New ALPL Executive Board

On 15 May 2018 the association’s General Assembly took place. One topic on the agenda was the election of a new ALPL Executive Board after the regular two-year term.

As the previous Executive Board members stood for re-election and as no other candidacies were received, the attendees of the General Assembly voted by acclamation the new Executive Board.

The updated agenda for this General Assembly 2018 including any additional documentation as required by Art. 9 of association’s statutes, can be found here.

An important agenda item of this year’s General Assembly will be the election of a new Executive Board as per Art. 3 in accordance with Art. 9 of the association’s statutes.

In addition to the election of a new Executive Board and the mandatory agenda items, this year’s General Assembly will be asked to vote on some amendments to the association’s statutes. The main amendments concern membership, allowing professional operators of remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) or in short drones, to become full members of the association and to allow full membership of professional pilots employed in the growing business aviation segment of Luxembourg’s aviation industry. Further to these amendments minor changes to Art. 6 and Art. 10 will also have to be voted on.

A doucement showing the changes recommended by the Executive Board is available following this link.

The process outlining changes to the statutes of the association is indicated in Art. 15 of the statutes, which are available here.

Atypical employment survey 2.0 – Reminder

On April 7th  an invitation was published to take part in an EU-wide study conducted on behalf of the EU Commission, to explore the employment and working conditions of aircrews in Europe’s aviation market.

While at the first glance this study is about atypical employment, the survey includes some questions regarding aircrew fatigue!

While most ALPL members are still employed under typical employment forms, e.g. directly employed by their airline, the impact of atypical employment models on us cannot not be underestimated. The same applies certainly for fatigue, which is a growing concern amongst our members.

For the validity of this study it is also important to receive data from crew members employed under typical form of employment. Your responses will help assess the extent of (ab)use of atypical employment, their impact on working conditions, and if existing EU and national rules are sufficiently protective. We encourage all of our members to participate in this important survey.

The survey takes about 20 minutes to complete and is open until 07 May 2018. In case you already completed this survey, we would like to thank you for your effort and investing some of your valuable time!

If you have any questions about the survey or study, the Ricardo team can be reached at aviationemploymentstudy@ricardo.com.
