After five years serving as the association’s Flight Safety Committee chairman, Joachim ‘Joe’ Fischer decided to step down from his position.
During his tenure as chairman the Flight Safety Committee accomplished some important projects, which include amongst others the implementation of a 24/7 emergency hotline for our members to provide access to the trained experts of the committee in case a member is involved in an incident or accident, creation of updated guidelines and checklists in case of incidents or accidents as well as fume events and qualifying six of the committee’s IFALPA accredited accident investigator as observers for Luxembourg’s accident investigation board (AET). Last but not least Joe is involved in implementing a peer support system at Cargolux. Joe will remain a member of the Flight Safety Committee representing our association in the German Flight Safety Forum and the IFALPA accident investigation and prevention committee.
Joe will be succeeded as committee chairman by Joachim Eder, who served as the committee vice chairman since late 2017.
The Executive Board would like to thank Joe for his dedication and the time he invested chairing the Flight Safety Committee, taking the committee to the next level and providing input and guidance for the Executive and Divisional Boards on flight safety related matters. At the same time the Executive Board welcomes Joachim Eder as new committee chairman wishing him much success in this new position.
