Hotel & Catering Committee Update – May 2026

We are happy to provide an update on the developments of the last couple of months:

Hotel Changes:

IND: In Indianapolis we have moved to a new hotel, following contract cancellation of the former Westin hotel. We are now in the Intercontinental hotel and we hope for a good perception.

UIO: We have also moved hotels back to downtown Quito, after our Corporate Security department has given the green light under the condition that the JW Marriott hotel is used due to adequate security standards. So far reports from crews confirm positive perception.

Hotel Contract Extensions:

The following hotels are approved for contract extension:

TPE: Shangri-La; CGO: Hilton; PEN: Amari Spice; BAH: The Art hotel;

MIA: The „Aka“, which was rebranded to: „The Brickell Arch“ Hotel by Marriott.

Hybrid hotel Operations in Tokyo:

Ever since we started to have layovers in NRT we were suffering from the dilemma caused by the discrepancy of very long and short layovers in conjunction with very long travel times to an affluent area in Tokyo, resulting in being accommodated at the Hilton Airport hotel.

In order to mitigate this unfavorable situation, where colleagues on longer layovers have to stay as well at the airport to facilitate travel times for colleagues on short layovers, we agreed to use two different hotels for a trial period:

For short layovers we will stay in our old Hilton hotel near the Airport.

For longer stays we plan to stay at a hotel closer to the center of Tokyo, which is yet to be inspected.

After the trial period we will evaluate the situation together with Travel Services.

Benefits:

We are pleased to announce that the hotel benefits in CGO now, in addition to the existing benefits, include a welcome drink and the possibility to have lunch instead of the breakfast buffet. We hope that this contributes to a more comfortable layover.

Transportation:

In order to meet sustainability targets for transportation for the company we would appreciate if the use of UBER Green / UBER Electric could be considered when circumstances allow for. Thanks for your kind consideration.

Catering:

We would just like to let you know that three of our Committee members were invited again to attend a Catering tasting with Luxair in order to make changes to summer-cycles. Some hotmeals will be exchanged for lighter dishes, but we particularly went through the vegetarian menu. Again, we appreciate the fact that we can be part of a transparent process and hope that with the HR Nova system being integrated by now, the required IT resources allow for the Catering app to also become a reality in a foreseeable time frame.

Special Meals:

Please be aware of the fact that you can meanwhile differentiate between Vegetarian (VLML), Gluten+Lactose free (GFML) and Vegan (VGML). You can update your profile by sending a mail to cvcatering@cargolux.com

ANC: New menu and new dishes.

SEA & LAX:  New provider (Air Culinaire) who serves already several other US stations.

VCP, SJU and NLU: Work in progress for menu update.

If there are any deficiencies to report, please do so via the Reporting App and forward a copy to cvhotels@alpl.lu

Picture attachments are always very useful.

New Addition to MyId Travel:

Very soon Air Seychelles will be added to our MyId platform. This addition was made possible by collaboration between a colleague who still had contacts to the Airline and our Travel Office who closed the deal.

Thanks to everyone involved!

On a final note we need to mention that MyId deals can always be taken away for various reasons, but especially for bad behavior by staff using the benefits.

Sadly, it seems we have already had some complaints by airlines about our staff.

Therefore we have to ask you the obvious which is to maintain good manners as guests on MyId flights, even though this should be obvious…

With kind regards

Your Hotel and Catering Committee
